Now celebrating their tenth anniversary in the same San Francisco location, Market Street Gallery specializes in exhibiting paintings, prints, photographs and works on paper of emerging and established Bay Area artists.

Located in the Hayes Valley area, Market Street Gallery is one of several fine art galleries inhabiting the neighborhood. A large number of outstanding antique stores, specialty furniture stores, boutiques and fine restaurants are located nearby.

EXPERIENCE THE REALM OF ALTERED BARBIE!

The American Icon has been recreated and explores new dimensions and perspectives in “The 2006 Altered Barbie Show” hosted by ChatterBox at The Market Street Gallery. An exhibition displaying the unlimited bounds of imagination in altering Barbie by over 70 artists. Altered Barbie’s take form from the ghoulish to exalted beauty, familiar to exotic, sacred to the profane, chaste to erotic and the personal to the political. 2006 celebrates the fourth year of this popular show in San Francisco. The exhibition series was first launched at ChatterBox’s original space in Noe Valley in 2002. In 2004 “Graffiti, Speed & Altered Barbie” exhibited at The Market Street Gallery, Anon Salon and Million Fishes in San Francisco and traveled on to Kathleen’s 5th and Normal University in Shanghai China. Last year the “Ultimate Altered Barbie Show” was hosted by ChatterBox and Red Ink Studios.

“2006 Altered Barbie” an artists relationship and reinterpretation of an American Cultural Icon-the Barbie Doll. Artists participating range from 11-years old to seniors, emerging to established. Artists interpret this ‘idealized’ plastic female ranging from The Last Skipper, Glitter Barbie, Nativity Barbie, Barbie Goes To Hell, The Peep Show to Trailer Trash Barbie.

The Market Street Gallery is celebrating its tenth anniversary at 1554 Market Street in San Francisco. MarketStreet Gallery specializes in exhibiting paintings, prints, photographs and works on paper of emerging and established Bay Area artists.

ChatterBox is a San Francisco based arts organization devoted to showcasing Artists and their art in cross-cultural exchanges and exhibitions in the United States, China and Vietnam.
